I'm the opposite of Dad. My 48 came with a big booster (like in first post) and it will stop on a dime...all drums, almost too sensitive. I've never driven an old truck without a booster, but modern folk seem to complain a lot about stopping from highway speeds. That said, Deve and Dad don't seem to have an issue. Deve's pretty darn particular (sorry Deve), so if he's good without it, I'd tend to lean that way, and not go through the hassle of a custom install.
