Hy ryanz, I'll start by saying that there were twelve volt stomp starters for the 55B or second series up to the 59 model year, if you'd prefer to go that route. For the solenoid starter there are a couple of different ways to wire it, power for the start button can be taken from a battery source or from an ignition source. Hook whichever power source you choose to one terminal of the start button, run a wire from the other terminal of the start button to the "S" terminal on the solenoid. From the "R" terminal on the solenoid run a wire up to the output side of the ballast resistor (the terminal that connects to the ignition coil) or the input terminal of the ignition coil, and you should be good to go, hope that helps.
