Just a thought, but since the floor board is floor mat covered anyway, could a larger access hole be cut in the floor board? It hole could be covered with a thin metal plate and held in place with sheet metal screws or if wanted a few nuts and bolts. The nuts could be tack welded to the bottom of the floor board. I imagine something similar to the battery access cover used on 30's and 40'strucks could work too. Seems to me it could be less hassle in the long term than having to carry a douch bag in the old tool box?
