All had to do with the transmission. All 47's were floor shift, both 3&4 speeds. When the shifter shaft had to sit above the column they had to create a pocket in the lower dash for it to go through. Well, the gauge mounting was in the way. Hence, the splayed mounting lower bolt points. All makes sense now Denny.
