Hey, I saw your site. I posted a rust problem on my 54 last night. I think that I may need to delete that. After looking at your task ahead of you, mines is really minor.
It's odd on why one truck rust like it does and another the same year doesn't. I took my gas tank out tonight to clean it out and not one single spot of rust what-so-ever. the whole rear part of the cab is almost perfect. I know my trucks complete life history and I know it NEVER saw a car wash, only time it got washed is when it rained. Plus the whole 50 years it was here in the midwest and they love using salt and sinders on the streets in the winter.
Good luck with your project, maybe I'll send you mine so you can have some practice, LOL!
