Keep in mind Texas is a large state and has several different climates. In my neighborhood we get freezes overnight but rarely does it stay below freezing during the day. There was an exception to that rule last December when we were iced in for nearly a week. We usually get at least one dip into the teens a year. Usually one or two snows a year.

Up in the Panhandle plains it gets considerably colder. And the Gulf coast considerably warmer.

It has been known to snow on the gulf though. One year my wife and I were pulling our travel trailer to Aransas Pass because a snow storm was headed our way and we didn't want any part of it. On the truck radio we heard it might get as far south as Aransas Pass. So we decided to go on to Port Isabel because we'd never been there. It is at the very south tip of Texas. It snowed there for the first time in over 100 years. And it happened on Christmas. Imagine grown people who had never experienced snow. They didn't know how to act.
