I believe HRLincoln and Hollow gave the best possible. Wait till you control pressure and see. Too much pressure will do exactly what you say it's doing. If no change do the float level/high idle adjust as suggested. I think HRL is saying dripping will over ride the idle needles, which allow gas in with throttle plates near closed, and they become un-adjustable. What is the part number of your carb and pump? What year is your motor.
