Use the 3M super weather strip ashesive. Read the instructions on the box, or tube. Only do about 12" at a time!! Coat both surfaces, let it get tacky dry, apply another coat, then put into place. Do another 12" or so, till done. If you try to do the entire length, it gets twisted, tangled, and makes a total mess. Also, really hard to fit the weatherstrip into the pillar side of the door edge with the door installed.
My suggestion is fit the door, mark the hinge bolt locations, take the door off, install the weatherstrip and re-install the door. the seal will smush as necessary to fit, or you can tweak the fit at that time. Lots of adult beverages are usually required to do this right!
