It is your choice regarding 261/235 cam and regarding the head.
The 1956 and later heads were higher compression (and would produce slightly higher horsepower).
By the way, you mention hydraulic lifters. The Corvette 235 and the 1955 235 block that you have would have come from the factory with mechanical lifters.
