Fourth gear has a 1:1 ratio and is no advantage over a 3 speed which is also 1:1. With a 235/75/15 tire (29" tall), your RPMs will be right at 2600 at 60 MPH with the 3.73 rear. They'll be 2800 at 65 MPH. Worse still if you go with a smaller tire diameter.
If you have a 3.42 rear then you'd be better off but still have higher RPMs than you'd like.
Some folks look for a 3.08 rear. | | |
