My fuel pump is leaking out the diaphram so will replace. What I don't know (and haven't looked close), is there a backing plate on the block after I remove the fuel pump? My concern is the push rod falling down and having to deal with that. Can I pull the pushrod out and grease it to stay in the up position? Is there enough room to pull the pushrod out to do this?
