I've just started a business called M.A.R.S. (Mobile Appearance Reconditioning Service) in my area and one of our specialties is painting small areas or spot blends. I'm contemplating starting on my 54's interior myself. I'm not familiar with the Chevy Duty paints you refer to.

I use the Sherwin Williams auto paint toners and the Miracle reducers, hardeners, etc. We do have single stage paint formulas. I would suggest contacting the MARS rep in your area and asking him or her about it. They could probably set you up with your paints cheaply and easily. But, I know Sherwin Williams has single stage because we use them so however you do it you might check on that.

Also, I'm using both a 1.4 tip on a gravity feed gun and a 1.0 tip on a SATA. Both work well. Shooting a metallic might be easier with a larger tip like the 1.4; however, with practice you can get the metallic to lay right with the smaller gun. I like the smaller one because it's an HVLP (high volume low pressure) gun and it has a LOT less over spray and more control for tighter places. I've not used a tip as large as 2.0 so I'm not familiar with that. I know the difference between the volume between a 1.0 and 1.4 seems like a lot so I imagine a 2.0 would really lay down a lot of paint.
