I'm thinking about paiting what I have done and ready now (front fenders, hood, rear fenders) and doing the rest next summer. I'm planning on using PPG DBC in some version of Forrester Green to do the color.
I know the catalyst has a limited shelf life when opened, but what about the paint or the clear coat? If I get a gallon or so of color, will the unused portion be bad next spring?
I see a number of issues here. If I wait too long with the fenders in mud and not sealed, moisture can be absorbed. If I apply a sealer coat, I will have to sand and redo when I spray finish. If I put on the K36 primer and sand, I risk getting scratches and having to repeat next spring. Scratches are of course a threat if I finish coat as well, but seems safer.
What opinions are out there? MARTINSR, you're as knowledgeable as any ten (or more) guys I know, what do you suggest?
