1960 P-20 'Thriftmaster' Step-Van.
Anyway, same Column Shift was 1954 - 1959 Truck I think, same Colum Shift as '48 to '54 Passenger Car ( I think, but, someone set me right on those if I am off?)
Anyway, about to turn into my Driveway a week or so ago and the Shift Lever comes off.
Lost one of the little Spring-Buttons' which holds the Shift Lever to the colum rod housing top.
Anyway, been driving by just 'shifting' the stubby little semi-Ball-end "Arm" which the Shift Lever as such, fits over.
This is actually kind of fun, and works just fine.
I am thinking to just tap some Threads into the 'ears' of the top of the Shift Column, and to use two Screws instead of the little 'Spring Button' things.
That or just fabricate a new Shift Lever, which would use two Screws and be shorter than the original one.
After a week of shifting using the 3 inch or so 'stub', I think I would be happy with a five or six inch Shift Lever, instead of the long factory one.
Anyone else ever done this?
