Dave, Makes sense that the potential for more chatter is with the larger clutch because there is more surface area. I'm like Whitelightening in my thinking that bigger is better and that while I was in there I'd put in the larger clutch. I'm here to LEARN so I'm not going to do something opposite what others have already done and gained experience from. If you've installed clutches on these old AD's (I haven't) then you have the experience I don't and I'll default to your recommendation to go with the smaller clutch. Like I said, I'm not going to be pulling a trailer or stump with my truck so I don't really need the larger, HD clutch so I'll avoid future problems like chatter and install the standard 9" clutch plate unless I get in there and see it's the larger 10". I was just going to buy the clutch ahead of time and have it ready for me and the mechanic to put in at the time of disassembly.
