Its more then a ridge of rust. The cyl wears wear the rings contact it. There will be a ridge about1/8 in that the upper ring is down from the top of the piston. You need a ridge reamer to cut the ridge even with the rest of the cyl. After that the piston will come right out with a push from a stick or hammer handle.
