As far as gearing is concerned , I think the 3.08 will be fine for my application. I have yet to confirm the gears though.
This truck will see highway , and will see trails/mud. More road than trails though. I figured when I combine the 1st gear of theSM420 with the low of the np205 , I should get plenty low enough.
Maybe with a tall tire and those 3.08's I will see a good RPM drop at speed in high gear.
My mind is made , I will be definitely using SM420. I will keep looking for bell.
side note : I have been knocking around the idea of a 4200 gm straight 6 also. Not sure about sm420 compatibility there. 4l60e is not my favorite transmission. There are a lot of these motors available around here.
The big block buick is cool , but not very practical this day and age.
