Take these guesses with grain of salt.
I have a 1954 GMC COE and there are a variety of differences in comparison to 1954 Chevrolet COEs.
I'd bet the canister in the foreground of the first photo is an oil filter. See if you can trace/track the lines to the block.
The second photo looks like a
hydrovac unit for the brake system. If it is, it should have a large vacuum line and a brake line attached to it.
