Modern gasoline is vastly superior and hence the engine will definitely respond favorably to a little advance.
My understanding is that because of the low 6:1 compression of these old 216's, they can't actually benefit from the higher octane of modern gasoline, and that advancing them beyond factory settings is necessary to make them run only as well as they would on low octane gasoline. Is this correct?
