The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop ad-53-3100's restore project

Today I find myself in Bakersfield visiting my father-in-law. Learning that fellow bolter ad-53-3100 is having his truck restored here caused the both of us to arrange a brief get together.

I never imagined I would see a job done as well and detailed as I saw today. Every inch of detail that is being looked at and taken care of can only mean that this truck will be 110% better than when it rolled off the Oakland plant assembly line 51 years ago. Ad is not cutting any corners to achieve what he wants which is a beautiful show piece.

Though I'm not quite into doing such a major restore for I believe in driving these trucks, I cannot argue with his desires nor more importantly with how he is approaching this project. His body man (Pete) is a perfectionist. Work done on the cab is flawless to the detail. The gap around the doors meeting the cab openings are perfectly centered. The fenders, hood, beautiful bed box are all perfect.

Let's not forget the other half of the truck (frame, hardware, engine, tranny,etc) which is being totally redone 4 buildings down from the body shop. 100% top quality is being applied here as well so when the body is installed on the frame, we can only think 100% throughout.

Ad, I'm very proud of what you are doing to this truck. I cannot wait to go out for a ride soon. Don't forget about the widow of the previous owner. You might bring a tear or two to her eyes.
