For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 1,214 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2012 Posts: 1,214 | While visiting w/the original owners remaining son over the weekend he indicated that he had found the original sales invoice, title and loan contract on the purchase of the 49 3100 I bought from his him & his daughter.
Some interesting tidbits I garnered from these doc's. The base sales price of the truck before options was $1185.00. A set of 650x16 6 Ply tires ran an additional $28.00 Freight & Handling was $149.25 The optional oil filter was $10.85 The optional horns were $13.95 Labor to install the horns & oil filter was $4.00 A tank of gas was $4.00 Sales tax was $27.74 Total sale $1422.79
Date of the sale was May 27, 1949 Model is listed as a 3104
He put down $822.79 and financed the balance of 600.00 which the loan contract showed he paid off 3 days later. His son couldn't remember what he sold to pay off the load but he said his Pop was a wheeler/dealer and probably had an old car or truck and perhaps some horses that he sold.
One thing I found very interesting was that he didn't purchase a heater w/it. I guess being late spring they weren't worried about it at that time. They did buy and install a recirc aftermarket heater kit from the dealer at a later date, probably before winter set in.
They made me copies that I'll add to the book I'm putting together on this old truck.
