Is there anything that says you can't have BOTH systems? They work independently of each other and you could have double redundancy in some situations.
I have a SM420 with the shaft brake assembly and I intend to put it on in working order, along with the existing pedal assembly (I will need cables) unless there is a reason why they can't co-exist.
