I,ve tried fixing the reostat part without success. I have fixed them when the connections are bad at the mounting plate. I also have taken the reostat part from a salvage that didn,t fit the application & put in one that did. I don,t see why you couldn,t solder it back. Test it before you put it in with an ohm meter or hook it to the wire & ground & put it through the motion with someone watching the gauge.
