Have you ever tried straight STP? That is what we were told to use back in high school (early/mid 60s) by one of the mechanics in town. I've used it in several vehicles and it has always been fine. As far as I've seen it doesn't channel, leak (if you have a reasonable seal, that is), break down, get thin, etc. And it definitely sticks to everything in there. Just a thought.
