| | | | Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 22 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2012 Posts: 22 | I am doing a v8 swap in my 1950 Chevy Truck 3100 and I have a rear end out of a 60's chevy truck. I believe it to be out of a 63 and up 12 bolt. I have tried looking up the numbers on the axle tubes and had no luck getting the right year. So I open the pumpkin cover and looking on the pinion gear and got the serial number off of it: 3917778 11 41GM 4 65 2 27. Are the last numbers the year/month/day?
