The wire you ID'd as parking lights...this is 'taillights', right? It sounds like you have some type of instrument to test for voltage.
If the truck has what appears to be backup lights, can you test the white wire for power when the key is on and the rig is put in reverse, or maybe a dash mounted toggle switch is flipped to turn the lights on.
