This has been (mental midgets) a problem since Hot Rodding began in 1945. Especially on trucks.
Short of doing body work, you'll just have to make one. See if you can find a scrap piece of wood panneling at the lumber yard.
Another way is to install a factory "delete plate" and mount your radio elsewhere.
