Yes, put a filter at the lowest part of the line. I like the filters with a sediment bowl.. that way they can collect water and dirt, and draining them is a simple bolt at the bottom.
The AC Type T2 fuel filter (with brass element) is my favorite. As long as you take care of it it's the last fuel filter you will ever buy. Spendy, but looks great.
