In the process of removing the head from my 1950 GMC 228. I found only the lower fitting on the oil filter housing was connected to the Block.
The broken flexible pipe in the upper fitting (in the side of the housing) was blowing in the wind.
No oil looked to have passed either in or out of it for sometime. The engine had good oil pressure 50/55 on tickover and 60psi loaded.
