Since you'll be working mostly under the driver's side, I'd suggest simply pulling the left front wheel and putting the jack stand under the spring pad on that side. I'm a little spooky about lifting a vehicle at the center of the front axle. I'm sure it's been done untold thousands of times, but there's always the possibility of putting a bend in it. Ditto for towing by wrapping a chain around the middle of the axle- - - -I've definitely seen some bent ones from doing that!
