I use Pertronix on evrything that stays on the shop property and HEI on anything that travels down the road. The compressor, fork lift, and yard truck have Pertronix; the 37 Buick and 52 pickup have HEI's. If you lose a Pertronix in Podunk Junction you are there till the big brown truck brings you a new one but if an HEI the nearest parts store will have what you need. As far as installation the HEI takes one wire---period. The Pertronix has two wires and should have the correct coil while everything is all self contained on the HEI. The Pertronix is prettier and guaranteed to fit since it goes into your old distributor. About a wash depending on the use in my opinion.
