The programmable digitals allow you to take measurements at different sampling rates. If the makers of the analog meter created the proper signal processing to move an analog meter movement, the digital ones should be able to perfectly emulate that. But not sure how that plays out. I don't have a Simpson, which I would love to have, rather I have a Heathkit analog. I never use it anymore, but I keep it around for occasions like the ones described above. Good analogy Steve!
