The only function of the kickdown cable on a TH 350 is a forced 3-2 downshift. It has nothing at all to do with shift points, which are controlled by the modulator. You need to adjust the cable to reach its maximum travel just as the throttle gets to the wide-open position. With the cable disconnected, you should feel an increase in the effort to pull the cable about 1/2" before it reaches a positive stop. That's the kickdown valve beginning to move. It needs to reach that stop point or very close to it just as the gas pedal hits the floor. Good luck!
