I have a '66 Chev Fleetside. It is the bar that goes from the differential to a frame hanger. Trying to put it on, but it is a quarter inch short. But not when i took it off. I did put a lower kit on. Did this cause this? If so, what can be done? I appreciate the help. Gary

Some fella's install an adjustable length aftermarket Track Bar. But if it were me I would just use the bar you have as long as you have tire clearance. What you are seeing is the nature of the Track Bar design. The axle moves slightly from side to side as the axle goes up and down. This is due to the length of the Track Bar and the fact that it rotating about a fixed point. In my '65 I have 5" drop springs and I am running the stock length track bar. I did a technical write up on track bars... check it out here: http://talk.classicparts.com/showthread.php?t=14368/ | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 84 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 84 | Sir: thanks for the reply. so how do I get the bar to line up with the bolt on the differerntial and the hanger? I have new bushings but the bar is missing the by about a quarter inch. so close. I tried jacking up the frame, but didn't help. a drift pin won't help. it's too much. The hanger is welded to the frame. Any ideas? Thanks, Gary

Push the rear end sideways until the Track Bar lines up with the bracket. When I changed the bushings on my track bar the truck was on my lift and the rear axle would move back and forth rather easily. Hope that helps! ++ | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 1,552 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 1,552 | You can also use a ratchet strap, to draw the rear-end 1/4" in the direction necessary to get the Panhard bar to go on the stud.
