The passenger door rattles more than I would like. Should I be using the 1947-51 striker plates? Or should I be using the 1952-54 striker plates? | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | '52-'54 striker plates for '52 doors, but you will likely need to hold your mouth just right to get the fit right. Maybe some lock pillar hammer massaging under the striker plate or a spacer there.

On most all of the 1950 trucks, there were 2 pads attached to the striker plate. On the 1952 trucks, the striker plates had no pads and the single bumper pad was attached to the door jamb a few inches lower than the striker plate. If you are using 1952 striker plates on a 1950 pickup, you may have no rubber bumper pad and this will cause some sincere rattling. Will rattle like a jackhammer banging on an empty oil barrel. I'd drill a hole and modify your cab to accept the 1952 style bumper pad. Also, the 1952 strikers adjusted differently and you may need to work on the adjustment a bit. Getting it just right can take some effort. New weatherstripping will help. Just don't buy the 11/16" weatherstrip product. It is just too big and will not work correctly. 1952 doors were designed to use a max of 7/16" ~ 1/2" weatherstrip. Good luck!
