Attended the annual Grant/Valkaria BBQ Fest & car show this past Saturday. BBQ Fest is 3 day affair, car show Saturday only. We lived in Valkaria (Grant & Valkaria were two neighboring rural un- incorporated areas that joined forces & became incorporated to protect the rural lifestyle & not get annexed by other towns looking to increase their tax base) for 29 years. We still have a business & shop in town, about 2 miles away. A beautiful day , mid 70's,sunny with a light breeze, pretty much a perfect day.
My brother made a last minute decision to join me with his very nice '80 El Camino. He's actually a Mopar guy and has won this show previously . Not sure if it was best of show or best Mopar. His El Camino is somewhat of a daily driver & all he did to prep it for the show was run it through the car wash LOL. He also recently sold a very nice mostly original5 window AD pickup.
The car show was a great success. At least 300 cars I'd say. Brother & I were both looking forward to a great BBQ sandwich for lunch while hanging out at the car show. Man, was I disappointed. My sandwich wasn't fit to eat, I threw it away. He ate about half of what he bought, then threw his away too. Very disappointing.
Unlike the Vero Beach show I posted about, which had no old Chevy trucks except my C10 & a El Camino, this show had it all. Some had the Gangster wheels & just didn't appeal to me , so I didn't take photos of them . Some photos below, I hope.
Got a few more photos, including front view of original 27 PU. Not where I thought it was.
