1966 Chevrolet C-10

I found this truck on a Classic Vehicle group on Facebook. I contacted the owner and we made a deal, my son-in-law and I then drove 12 hours round trip to pick her up. On the way down to the Carolinas to get her, I got worried about what if the truck didn't meet with my expectations or if there might be something more to the truck than what I was told, that was a long trip to come back empty handed. Thankfully the owner was up front with me and everything worked out. The has an inline 6cyl 250 motor, it wasn't the original 250 that was in it from the factory though, this one came out of a 1974 Nova.
The tires on her were dry rotted and she needed a new carburetor, other than that she was in decent shape. She had been through an extensive restoration, probably 8-10 years earlier, but it was noticeable that she hadn't been driven much. My guess was she sat in an open side covered awning. The elements had taken a toll on the upward facing bed rails, but the bottom of the rails look like they were done yesterday. The paint was still in very good condition but there were a few problem spots.
I replaced all of the window felt/rubber and added a sun visor. I also installed a new 1 barrel Rochester carb and installed a new HEI distributor, wires and plugs. This winter I installed an American Autowire Classic Upgrade kit #500560, replaced the dash cluster from one with idiot lights to one with gauges. I also added seat belts. It came with a Thrift heater, so I found a deluxe model and installed that while doing the rewire. I also replaced the tires with new black walls to run the original steelies and caps on and I purchased a set of white letter tires for a set of rallies.
I'm looking to probably move my fuel tank to the rear and and to put new wood in the bed, that will probably be a project for winter 2021-22.
I've always loved these old trucks, such character. I was hoping to find a '64 as that was the year I was born, but this one came along and I couldn't pass it up.
Thanks to all the folks here on SB, you've been a huge help thus far, hopefully we can continue with you all on this journey.

Yrs. ago I had a 64 Chevy, shortside, short bed, like yours, even the same color.
I also had a 66 C20 long bed stepside we used for family camping.
One had to go. Sadly it was the 64. :((
I still have the 66 C20. Retired now.
