Helped gobble down an evening meal with Wayne Alderson. Then toured his body shop and saw his line-up of restored rolling stock. Was a great visit. Lots of nice paint work. Thanks Wayne !!
Then on Saturday went to Mongo's garage for the day. It is a tremendous stash of trucks, parts, gabfest, tour, schools, demonstrations. Was a 859 mile round trip for me. Landed in bed at 10 PM. Had to leave a little early to try to clear St Louis before dark (was dark but cleared it OK).
Thanks Steve for the tour and hosting gabfest. His neighbors were great in pointing me to his place !!

If any of us great lakes bolters have a chance to go, it is worth your time. | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 3,436 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 3,436 | It has changed a lot since you have been there Leo. The Alderson's party shop is even better and they are great hosts. Saturday was all day event at Mongo's garage. A lot of info sharing, some good food and just an all around a great day. But, I don't think you have been to Mongo's bone yard. It's a Bolter's dream spot!

Don Don, I have been to three different yards of his over the years. The last one is the one that used to belong to Jim Carter, I bought a visor bracket from him there. Lot of rare and hard to find parts. Good to hear that the Aldersons' are keeping Bill's legacy going. | | |
