I have mono leafs and a dropped axle on my 54 with 3" inch blocks and drop leaf springs on the rear. I did have to flip my tie rods and drag link to make the front work.

I have a 4"dropped axle from "mor-drop" in Oakland, and some leaves removed,
with 4" blocks in the rear.
It sits just right, for me. Handles well, and doesnt drag on the curbs.
Pics below in my signature line.

I have a 4" dropped axle from Sid and numerous leaves removed in front and then 3" drop blocks along with some leaves removed in the back. If you look at my pictures, you will notice the scrub line is pretty low. Be careful if this is what you are looking for. My axle I about 4 inches or so off the ground.

Marty, I assume that you have the 15" rims like me. I figured out that if I blew a tire my axle would be 1/2" of the ground and if the tire comes off the rim, then my rim will not touch the ground and I will be plowing asphalt!

Marty & Chris,

Curious how your trucks drive with missing leaves when driven moderately through the twisties...? I have a 2.5 inch drop from Sid and am considering pulling out a leaf or two to soften things up, but am concerned about how this is going to affect everything else- I live in the foothills and am not using the truck to cruise around flat and slow.... I have miles of 35-40mph curves to drive through every day.

Do either of you have a sway bar installed?

The more you drop the axle more issues creep up. I've been down this road, today I'd go with a Mustang II front end kit.
Just my 2 cents.
Best of luck

I wish I knew how to post pics. You can see pics of it at classicshoptalk.com in the gallery section and search "CHATO" and some pics will come up that someone posted for me a few years ago.

Nostalgia Sid's website also shows several dropped Chevy trucks, before and after. Some of them are with the Posie springs:

Mine's on a 3" axle from Sid's with 3" blocks out back, but it's on stock springs with none removed.

I am at 4" drop like I posted before. I have to be very careful going onto trailers and such, I would not recommend going lower than that. If you want pictures, click on my link and you can see how low she really looks with fenders on her. I saw that you asked how she handled with leaves missing......well after talking to the guys, I added the leaves back into the truck. Needless to say, she rides like a 1951 truck/dump truck or whatever else you can think of. I don't have a sway bar in it either.

Chris
