I'm in too, wherever, whenever!

The wherever is here at the NAPCO Rescue Ranch and the whenever is in Feb, when Milliman has rested up from his Christmas tree planting. Lets start looking at some dates that work for the most people. The Classic always starts on a Friday and ends on Saturday afternoon/evening.

Here we go again!

John's Winter Classic sweatshirt needs replacing. He mentioned a new design, too.

We will hunt around for better prices (like we did the calendar) and a good quality / warm material.

We'll get all that posted when we get that far.

Since no dates have been suggested, I set the primary date as February 14th-15th, and the alternate is February 21st-22nd. The only person with the power to change these dates is the "Mighty Cosmopolitan"... and my wife.

Well, I wasn't gonna say anything, but was sure someone would bring it up!

As the official ODSS Rush Chair, and Keeper of the Privy Seal of the ODSS, I shall set down in all official correspondence to and from higher ODSS Headquarters those dates as set by Brother NAPCOMAN above.

All members in good standing shall acknowledge their acknowledgement and respondy voo with yea or nay on attendence (guests?) at your earliest convenience.
I'm in with two guests (Dan and possibly Dr. Langford)

And as long as we're entering in official correspondence, mentioning in dispatches, et cetera ... I hereby nominate Victor to be the official ODSS Navigator.

That's funny because I too was going to throw out the 14th but didn't want to to get any of my Stovebolt Brothers in trouble with my Stovebolt Sisters, if ya know what I mean! That being said, I think JAM is OK with the date, if that's what it ends up being. I guess the honeymoon is truly over (creeping up on 8 yrs!) for us but there is a certain newly married wife in the group that may have a problem with this weekend......I'm just saying..

I don't know if I'm "in good standing", but me and my lovely wife are OK with the 14th (will require a make-up date!).

Re "ODSS Navigator", I have no knowledge of what responsiblities come with that assignment. It sounds like it would require navigating. If so, you may be asking for trouble. I have trouble even with my GPS!

Oh, and I second Victor's nomination!!

In my business, the Navigator is an old term, but concept is translated to newer title and responsibilities. Terms now used are NFO - Naval Flight Officer and more specifically, WSO - Weapons system Operator. Might I suggest you gain proficiency operating weapons systems (consistent with ODSS missions), troubleshooting navigation and integrated communication, counter measures, external store interfaces, and other related systems. In my experience, Navigators are also responsible to nurture the fragile egos of their pilots, provide calming inter-cockpit communication in times of pilot-induced terror, cover up or otherwise distract others from pilot-induced errors (which rarely if ever occur), and always have a piece of hard candy, available to the pilot, to ensure physiological readiness prior to stressful situations.

As usual, the engineers are over thinking all of this. There is only one reason, and one reason only, why Victor *must* be the ODSS Navigator...

I had no idea that it was Valentines day, but it is impressive that you all "sucked it up" and agreed to the date. I think young Grigg and his Spousal Support Unit would prefer to have that day to themselves. I propose the following change:

Primary date- Feb. 21st-22nd
Alternate- Feb 28th-March 1st

All the dates are good with me as long as we aren't facing a February snow storm. Then again, I might be done with this snow pushing stuff by then. How cool would that be, junk yardin in a snow storm. That would make the perfect ODSS Christmas card.

Winter Classic 2014, wasn't that played today as the annual outdoor NHL game on new years day ? Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings. Wrong thread !

Thanks George for the suggestion to move things off the 14th. Only real date I cannot make. Not because I'm all romantical and stuff, just that family has other plans for me that day. I'll 'splain later.

Any of the other dates work for me. Will start blocking them out on the calendar.

...and I missed why Victor has the NAV... But I am slow like that.

Northern alliance of the ODSS checking in here - what's the typical itinerary for this endeavor ? And where should I plan to put my head down Friday night? Are there hotels in and around ground zero?

The itinerary on this great event is as follows.

Those who wish to attend are summoned to Brother Van Orden's home near Broadway Va. George and his wife Joyce allow us to invade their home for the weekend. Typically we arrive on Friday, depending on when folks arrive and the yards we plan to visit we hang out at George's place until the majority arrive. Sometimes we do a scouting trip on Friday, sometimes not. Depends on the number of brothers in attendance.

Basically we walk the junkyards during the day then enjoy fellowship and brotherhood at George's home in the evening. Most head home Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Sleeping arrangements are a sleeping bag in the loft with your favorite junkyarding buddies!
