A few years ago, I had read somewhere (here?) that adding rubber bushings between body and frame of a TF truck really helps comfort and road noise, NVH, the OEM calls it! Someone was even saying that pieces of rubber cut from a tire worked well!
I have a '57 Suburban, and I am still thinking it could be a good idea, so I have a couple of questions:
Is it really worth it? Does it really help with vibrations, noises...? (I cannot see how it would not help, but...).
Using old tire bits seems a bit rustic, I would rather do it well and use real rubber bushings, anyone knows what size I would need (diameter, height) by any chance; I prefer to have the parts handy before I take my truck apart... I bet I would need new bolts, too.
Is it a horribly difficult job? Anyone has advice, ideas... that would help? I am not taking the body off the frame for a restoration, just lifting it enough to add bushings.
Thanks!
