Can anyone assist me in locating the original paint color for a 1956 chevy 3200 pickup? There is no data plate or placard located on the firewall.

Thanks in advance.

Sales literature... reprints or originals.

There are also old paint charts that list the colors.

Some of the folks floating around here have them.

You won't find a data plate or trim plate on a '56, I beleive that started a few years later. One thin i can tell you to look for, though, is any writing on the underside of the hood. This is usually done in white grease paint. That will be the factory color.

As stated above, there was no trim/color information on the ID plate. If you are looking for color chips to match up your paint with a color name (and color code), here is some information:

1956 truck color names (and combinations) in the specifications manual.
The AutoColorLibrary at TCP Global has the 1955 color chips that were carried over into 1956.
Here is a list of 1956 truck paints with color chips for new 1956 colors (2 pages).

1954 3106 Carryall Suburban - part of the family for 45 years
1954 3104 5-window pickup w/Hydra-Matic
Z-series (54/55) GMC 350 (2-ton) COE
If you have to stomp on your starter, either you, or your starter, or your engine, has a problem.
