Hello everyone. My name is Jeff and I have just purchased my first Stovebolt. It is a 1942 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I found the truck in sunny Arizona. The truck is going to be delivered to me in cold, snowy Ohio in a few weeks. I am planning to do a slow cosmetic restoration on the truck with my three sons. I want to be able to drive it while we work on it. I plan to give the truck a non-original makeover. Nothing crazy, but I want to make it look unique. I have placed photos of the truck on the website listed below. I will update the photos as I make progress on the truck. Any comments along the way would be appreciated. Please look at these pics and let me know what your impressions are of the truck. This is my first one and I bought it sight unseen. Oh well, I own it now.

Welcome,Jeff. Looks like you have a good, solid starting point. Should be an easy "non-original makeover".Everythings there.
Youre lucky to have found a '42 in such complete and together condition. Theres plenty of folks here to lend their knowledge and experiences.
One thing tho,(just my opinion) those wheels have GOT to go.
Good luck on your's and son's project.
Marty

Welcome and congrats on your new project. Nice to get the boys involved as well. This is the place to be if you need to learn anything about old stovebolts.

Hello Jeff,

Your '42 looks to be in great shape. You were fortunate to find a restoration candidate that nice. Quite often they are very rough (like mine). grin

This is the best place to get answers.

Welcome to the "Bolt", we're glad to have ya.

John

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

Nice truck you found.Have fun with your boys. There is nothing better than seeing your sons with their heads under a hood talking to each other about how they are gonna fix their ride...
Take care and Aloha,Jeff
