how do ya fix droopy door handles? My door handles don't sit right. Is there an easy fix or do I need new assemblies.

That is caused by a faulty spring inside the mechanism. I have seen references to a replacement spring. Personally I am installing NOS mechanisms. I have seen comments that the repopped assemblies are not as good as the originals but I have no experience with them.

I put new repop door mechanisms in mine and the door handles still droop.

Is the spring that is listed at the bottom of this page the part that you have replaced in an attempt to "level" the door handle?

tclederman, that is the spring that needs replacing to fix droopy door handles. Takes alot of work to get it replaced since it is punched in the door hinge.

You may want to take a look at the Door Latch Spring at Jim Carter's. The description of PN DP133 states that it eliminates outside drooping handle. cool

Hi all,
Can anybody help me out with some proper instructions on how to properly access and reinstall this spring (part 18-575 from Classic Parts)? Is there an easily followed method? The droopy handle issue is such a common problem with these trucks, I would think that a nice, succinct tech tip would be a nice contribution for the site... hint hint. (I'll make you a deal: if you write the instructions, I'll take photos while I follow them grin )
Many thanks,
Nick

All fixed. See this link for details. In my case, replacing this spring (part 18-575 from Classic Parts) did the trick. Hope it works for others too.
