I have the parts coming in from a 3500HD chevy truck with a 15,000lb. GVW. Has anyone ever done a conversion like this. I already have a dual circuit master in place of the old single circuit.

Would there be any interest in making the brackets and rotor mount? I believe I can make an adapter to mount the rotor on the original hub and mount the caliper to the original spindle were the backing plate mounts.

I run a fabrication business and I have done more than a few conversion like this. Just wanted to see if anyone else would like to do this conversion!

I know I've seen conversion kits for the lighter trucks, but would be interested to know how much a conversion kit for a big truck would cost if there was ever one created. My bus is a 56 1 1/2 ton. Although I just spent almost $500 to have all the drum brakes and components redone I would still be interested in a disc conversion.

I would still use the original hub so you wouldn't have to change the bolt pattern on the wheels. I'll post some pictures when I get the parts made.

Curious to see what you come up with as well.

I think you'll find that the bolt pattern on the 3500HD axle is the very same as the original truck, with a possible exception of stud size and the old hubs have a smaller wheel pilot diameter, new ones will be 5.25"

Here's another approach using 3500HD and or P-30 axle parts.
In my research and fabricating using the new I-beam as well as the new hubs, rotors, and related parts seemed like the best plan.

I was looking for a little bit less work for the conversion. I know that you can put a different axle under it, but that is a lot of work for someone to do. I am hoping to make a bracket that bolts on he the spindle and make an adapter ring that goes between the original hub and the new rotor. I received the parts in today and will try to fit them up sometime next week.

Would you rather find a complete front axle and spend the time to swap it out or would you rather pull the hub off, mount a rotor to it and bolt a caliper to the spindle and bleed the brakes?

I did something like what I think you are planning on doing, perhaps not

Heres what I did, I have not put it on the road yet but all the bracketry is done for the rotors, Im currently working on putting a hydrobooster in my truck to run these twin piston calipers.

Corpo, that looks nice. However, I'm looking into putting larger rotors and calipers on. The rotor's are almost 14" that I have here. I should be able to make an adapter ring to go from the hub to the rotor out of 3/8" of 1/2".

I see no reason to use anything thicker then the casted rotor! The mild steel that I will use will be stronger than the cast iron in the rotor. I hope I can mock something up this week. I'll keep you guys posted.

Not that it matters, but you can get larger ones then the 12" rotors I used from the higher end after market brake companies.. I know the wilwood kit (for 6 lug GM) has 16" inch rotors, if I recall when I was doing my research there were some that were even bigger... but these kits werent cheep and I was on a budget and didnt need a kit engineered for an Escalade or tahoe... I never did contact them to see what the price of just the rotors would be

I am definitely interested in seeing how your conversion works out, this is my first big bolt, but one day I want to do a COE so I will do it all again...

Are the parts you are using 8 lug? Are you going to machine your adapters or have them CNC from some plate?
