So.... I was out driving my dads tractor back to his house the other day and as most people that read a forum like this already know, tractors are fun to drive! Which means I did not take the shortest route to his house, and stumbled on a rusty '49 3100 with a for sale sign in the window, nobody was home so I just looked her over and drove off telling myself that I already was in the middle of restoring an old airplane and really did not need another project. It's easy to guess the rest, I could just not get that truck out of my mind. How fun would it be to drive out to the airport in an old Chevy and hop in my '47 Cessna 120 to practice landings.....very fun!
Been working on it a little almost every evening for the past year. My wife says it keeps looking worse the more I work on it! She is kind of right as it is just a cab on a frame now. But the 261 is rebuilt as is the rear end with 3.55 gears, also most of the miscellaneous components are rebuilt, painted and packed away in boxes.
I really enjoy taking an ugly part and after an evening or ten have a freshly rebuilt and painted component.
Will post more pictures soon.
Dale

Nice old pickup. Look foward to seeing pictures of its progress. This really makes me want me old 1948 thriftmaster back.
