http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4013/4459845201_f927f6b055_b.jpgHere is a picture of my '61 GMC 3/4 ton pickup that I just picked up. It's a one owner truck with 77k miles and was pretty well equipped. It has the 305 V6 4spd auto trans, air conditioning, big back window and custom cab features. It has been sitting in a driveway in Santa Monica since the mid 90's so there is a lot of work to do just to get it running. I got his from the grandson of the owner who has been following the work I've done on the 1958 boat and 1970 Volkswagen last year. He thought that since I did a good job on those I needed a real challange and gave me the truck with the camper.Once I get the VW finished in eth next two weeks I'll start on the truck. This will be a fun project and should be a good conversation piece at the car events.

Welcome to the Stovebolt Surfdaddy. I think you'll really enjoy it here. Lots of other GMC guys here as well. They'll check in along the way.

What a great story and nice looking truck. Deals like that don't come along very often. If you can, please post a couple of close up photos of the inside and outside of the spotlight installation. I'm going to be mounting one on my 1960 GMC soon and it would be nice to see how one is installed in a completed truck. Thanks and good luck with your projects.

After a year of working 12 hour days 6 days a week and putting the finishing touches on my last project, a '70 VW Squareback. I'm finally able to work on the 61 GMC. I removed the camper blead the brakes and brought the truck home to start work. I got it running and replaced the water and fuel pumps and voltage regulator. I'm still tweaking and tuning to get to run right but that wil come once I put fresh gas in it and change the fuel filters.
