New Guy
Hello everyone. New here and new to the old truck scene. I've been in love with old trucks as far back as I can remember and finally got this 1953 GMC 1/2 ton with a 270 in it.

Little back history on me. Im 27, not new to cars or anything old. I recently sold my 1977 right hand drive mini Cooper that I had for a little over 10 years due to having my first child. Im a production supervisor at Newport news shipbuilding and I work the world famous EMALS catapults and Advanced Arresting Gear. Been there since I was 18.

So the truck.... I pulled it from the woods from a guy that works for me. It's been sitting for the past 18 years in the woods up on floor jacks. The cab and doors are pretty rusty but the fenders, hood, bed and frame are solid. Engine oil has been changed to VR1 20w50, new oil filter, and I've already rebuilt the carb and have gotten it to run and idle pretty nice. I've got all new plugs, coil, dizzy cap, etc. Just haven't installed yet. Not sure the water pump is working so looking into a rebuild for that. The whole front end is taken apart and I'm unsure where to start putting it back together ( putting it back together to just get it driving and then starting the body work and frame coating). I've already done tons of research and still have tons of questions and parts to acquire.

Thanks and enjoy the pics. (The B2 is not mine, just a friend storing it at my place)

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile
