Well the Reunion is a little over two months away and it's time to start the planning process.
First start is a T-Shirt design and color. John has done the design in the past, but I don't think he will have time this year.
Since the park should still be flooded, maybe the shirt could have some sort of flood theme.
If we can't get a new design, I'll probably pick out one of the old designs and update the dates.
Please let us know what your thoughts are on the color.
I'm thinking light colored pocket t-shirt, big design on back and logo on the pocket.
Please post up your thoughts!
EDIT: I would like to thank everyone for helping out last year, this is a group event and the teamwork was great!
Has an alternate location for the Reunion been identified?
Haven't heard of one yet Kevin.
Mongo said they had a couple backup plans and he should let us know when they are finalized.
You still taking a boat to work? 94 is still closed from Jeff City to Bluffton.
Can you draw up a t-shirt design?
I was thinking that the location might have some bearing on the t-shirt design.
I forded the water in my 4WD Avalanche today; people with cars had to hitch a ride with 4WD truck owners.
I'm not looking for more things to do, but I'll certainly help if I can. I have a little skill with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Attached is a sign I put on each door of 'Mater Jr:
Edit: I had to fix the image, as the transparent background didn't work well with the embedded image viewer.
We need to meet up sometime and talk about a design.
Maybe one day when you get off work for a quick cold one.
I'll bring a few shirts from past Reunions to maybe give us some ideas.
Everyone else that reads this, please give us your thoughts!!
Like a phrase or a design idea and the color of the shirt.
We need input!
Don, how about “Stovebolt Madness there is no cure”. We just have to be careful of copy right infringement with the actual design. Not an artist so I can’t help with images. Carry on.
I like it Martin!
What do others think or do you have some other ideas?
Please chime in here!
In reference to the floods and the flooded-out normal venue, I was thinking of an image of a pickup with a john-boat or canoe in the back. Numerous possible captions; here's some off the top of my head.
"Six cylinders and two paddles...no stopping!" "...keep going!" etc.
"Don't flood the engine"
" 'Bolts don't float"
"Stovebolt Bait Shop"
"Keep the inline above the waterline"
"Stovebolt love runs deep"
Some silly ideas perhaps, but maybe it will spark better ideas in someone else. Knowledge of the potential event location may contribute to the design.
Red pickup, blue or gray shirt. Chevrolet/GM color scheme.
(I'm just the new guy here...not trying to hijack the creative process.)
This is what we need is input.
Kevin, you have some great idea's and you are not hijacking the topic!
Had me laughing out loud!
OK folks, keep the input coming!!
Quick cold one got my attention keep up the good work
Up early on Friday Tim! 6:30 am there and 3:30 pm Thursday here!
You and Karen have been to the Reunion several times.
Got any ideas for a t-shirt?
Back a few years ago some shirts were done in a purple color that I thought looked really good. (at one time I think we almost considered it "our color"?) Dark enough to hide the tobacco stains (and some grease) and gold, yellow or sliver colors looked good with the shirt.
And while I love and always promote Stovebolt, I personally, and its a personal thing with me, don't like the entire back of a shirt all filled up. It seems to take away from the message. We've had club shirts like this for years around my area and finally figured out that while folks love their cars and trucks most want to "KISS" it as in "Keep It Simple Stupid"...... Big enough to read but small enough not to be overbearing.
I still have a couple Stovebolt shirts I've had embroidered over the years and can see folks staring/looking/reading what the shirts say rather than a bunch of red ink splattered all over it that simply says yeah, I'm a car or truck nut. (I've always loved the "still plays with trucks" logo)
.....I do vote for pockets and would even spring for a golf/polo type shirt if its in the offering.
I'm not complaining guys, this comes up each year and I'm just trying to get everyone to thinking!!!!
I agree with Achipmunk on keeping the design clean, simple, and not too overbearing. Small logo and script on the front pocket, and maybe small script on the sleeve or upper back neck area. I'm a fan of gray....sorry Achipmunk, but I don't have any shoes that go well with purple....:)
Alvin, I have one of those purple shirts. Got it at my first Reunion in 2009.
Wore it for the group picture and took it off, not because of the color, but because it was too hot in the sun.
Maybe I need to cut off the sleeves and collar, to be able to wear it?
The clean and simple design is a good idea, something on the back and something on the pocket.
I also like the light/bright colored T's. Cooler to wear when it is T-shirt weather.
Makes our group stand out at shows.
Tom, how about a gray shirt with some simple bright lettering?
Kevin, we need to get together next week and see if we can come up with something.
Maybe Patty Malone's, when you get off work, easy to get to for both of us and easy to get back on the highway.
Keep the ideas coming!!
A gray shirt with bright lettering sounds fine to me.
Hopefully someone can help with a logo/graphic to use.
Kevin and I should be meeting up after the holiday weekend.
He is new to Stovebolt, but looks like he has some good talent designing.
I don't have that talent!
Also, unless John jumps in here, it is our parade! "hint, hint"
Please keep the input coming!
I'll send you a PM to arrange a meetup.
Keep the ideas and thoughts coming!
..............Stovebolts gets better with age
...............Stovebolts are timeless (or ageless)
............... Stovebolts, go first class
...............go first class, get a Stovebolt
I like the
"Stovebolts are ageless"
"Still plays with trucks"
Second one would be good because we will be at a truck show.
Kevin (Shakey61) and I should be meeting up this next Friday and see what we can come up with, using these suggestions.
Please everyone, if you are attending or not, give us your ideas for a design!
Yes, a pocket and simple and I do like grey.
The show/reunion will be at the Argosy Casino parking lot this year. It is close to the park where it usually is. All on pavement.
Thanks for the update George!
It will all work out, one way or another!
Google earth Argosy Casino, Riverside Mo.
. Take a look. If you go to the left you will see a marker for E H young park.
That's good...I was getting worried that it wasn't gonna happen. What's the date?
That's good...I was getting worried that it wasn't gonna happen. What's the date?
7th&8th of sept.
Met up with Kevin, Shakey61, today and he has some good ideas on design for the shirts this year.
Shirt color will be red with black lettering. Small logo above the pocket and some simple big printing on the back.
Had a great time chatting with Kevin and I'm sure we will be meeting up in the future.
Hopefully we will have a design next week and I will contact Mogo's sister in law to get the pricing.
Then a thread will be started to order shirts.
No extra shirts will be ordered, well maybe just a couple XL.
So if you want a shirt, tell me in the t-shirt ordering thread.
Here are some initial artwork examples for the graphic on the front pocket. They're variations of what's been used in the past, but instead of a head-on view, I made them somewhat oblique.
I don't have the correct font that was used previously, so I just used something acceptable until I can discover the identity of the previous font. The AK and AD styles seem more iconic, but I wanted to include some different models and angles to hopefully generate constructive feedback.
We're still working on ideas for text/graphic on the back of the shirt.
So I would like to attend, is there any preregistration other than T-Shirts or just roll up with our rides?
Tanker, if you want to park with the Stovebolt gang? Please pre register to have a free show tee shirt and enjoy the show parked with us.
All money is donated to really good children's funds and goes straight to help the kids.
This is a family event, so bring them all. Spouse, Kids and pets.
More info will follow, but I did a lot of swimming and diving today.
So it will be an early bedtime for me tonight!
Shakey, is working on a Stovebolt T-Shirt design.
I met up with him yesterday and he has really good idea's.
The three he has posted is just a logo above the front pocket.
The big back, simple design, will come latter.
I have all three of those style of trucks, so, it doesn't matter to me.
On second thought, those drafts don't have a 55 to 60 task force front end.
Do I need to post a picture of what one looks like?
For those that will be attending, We need your input!
What do you want in and on a shirt?
Edit: the 57 dump!
I would get deleted if I posted a picture of what I want on my shirt.
The logos are looking good. I'm always partial to the AD trucks. (a 54' or 55' First series would be great!)
Just a thought, but what if the top of the logo simply said "STOVEBOLT", and the bottom said "Kansas City, Missouri 2019"
The back could have the website text of "Find it - Fix it - Drive it"
Sounds like red is the color of the shirt, but have you ever done a blue shirt before?
Ron, Send me a PM of what we can't have. It will be interesting to see your dark side.
Good input and I had not thought about blue. We like to have a different color every year and white lettering on a blue shirt would look good.
Thinking that will be the colors next year.
Hope to get a quote on pricing next week and then start a thread to take orders.
For those that don't know, I don't make money doing this. If I can brake even, cost wise, I'll be happy.
Alvin's idea of KISS is also good. (Keep It Simple Stupid)
Don, you know Ron wants a Plymouth on the shirt!
Make the pix a Plymouth on the back of a big truck car hauler?
Wonder if that Plymouth will fit on the 46 2-Ton grain?
It's another one that has been in the barn for over ten years.
Had it at my first Reunion in 2009.
It was the stage all weekend.
Does anyone know what the annual event number is?
I'm thinking it may be the 15th annual.
John, We could use some input and thoughts from you also!
Not this Ron. Or I have lost my mind..
Tanker, I did not forget about you.
To park with us, you will need to register for the show, with the show hosting club. http://alltrucknats.com/wp/2019/01/30/2019-pre-flyers/
Every dime will go to help children.
It is free to attend and just walk in.
We'll have our own area with the Stovebolt awning.
Lawn chairs are a must. There will be several food venders also.
I like the hotdogs at the boy scout booth.
More info will follow.
Edit: Ron, read my sig, it just may apply to you also!
Based on suggestions to move the year, here's a couple of variations on the text: One has the year included after the location, the other has the year on a license plate.
Thanks Kevin, for what you are doing to get a t-shirt design.
2017 was the 13th Reunion and I have proof.
It is on the pink shirts from that year.
So 2019 will be the 15th Annual Reunion.
Please folks, keep giving us your input!
The bit of input I have to give is this, bought the orange "torque spec is in our DNA" shirt last year and absolutely love the front pocket! As well as the quality!
Great work! I like them both.
I am guessing you are using the "15th Annual Reunion" somewhere on the shirt?
CDW, We hope to have the same shirt with a pocket, but red, with black lettering this year.
John and Kevin are hooked up on PM's to get a design finalized.
I'll be calling Mongo's Sister in law who has done all the shirts in the past.
Get her hooked up with Kevin when a final design is decided.
If it turns out to be the 41 to 46 Victory Truck, I'll need to dig out the 46 2-Ton and load it up.
A thread to order shirts will be started as soon as I get a price quote.
I'm in regardless... and I'll have a pink shirt to trade if'n I can find it.
I have two of the Breast Cancer Awareness shirts.
Wear them all the time when the weather permits.
Chicks dig them and the guys are scared of you.
I'll be sporting one at the Reunion this year.
2 years ago we wore the pink shirts and all the truck exhibitors loved them. "It takes a real man to wear pink". We heard that a lot!
I have not put the order in yet and if there is a lot of interest, we can still change the color to hot pink with black lettering..
Input and thoughts are needed!
Pink is over-done, and was used just a couple of years ago. Pick a color that can still be worn in polite society, not just at the Reunion.
Besides, I thought we had already settled on red for this year.
Our T-shirt designer has spoken!
Thanks for working on a design!
Red it is.
For those that don't know, Kevin is a new member and has a sweet 61 Apache and a sweet 60 Impala.
He can also fly and Apache helicopter. So the truck is fitting.
I have PM'd some design elements to John for his approval. When I hear back, we'll have the final design narrowed down!
Based on input from the various stakeholders, the design for the front pocket graphic is complete. We moved the "Stovebolt.com" logo to the front, and included the event iteration and date.
I'm finalizing the back graphic, trying out some different phrases for literary and visual impact.
Has any discussion or recommendations made about where to stay????
Hey guy’s the final show flyer is done, a couple things that we missed in the proofreading before it went to print are Gaileens phone number is 816-560-1229 and Pre Entries are $40 not $30 so sorry about that and we’ll get it fixed in the PDF.
Also as many of you have heard the park took quite a hit with the flooding and the construction this year. It was very important to us to keep the show in Riverside and the City of Riverside and Argosy Casino have come to our rescue and we’ll be moving forward for this year right next door to the Argosy in a couple of their parking lots they’ve loaned us.
Thank you for all your patience and our thoughts and prayers are with those who weren’t able to solve their flooding issues so easily.
I already sent in my entry form.. can I pay the other $10 when I get there?
Don't worry about it Rusty I'll take care of it.
Thanks for the update Steve!
I see that Ron already asked this but I saw no response yet.
Where is the best place to stay? I may be pulling a trailer so are there places with accommodations for them?
Phil, the Casino is offering a deal on rooms. See KCMongo’s link to the show flyer posted above. Plenty of room for a trailer. Suggestion, book early. There is also a Super 8 right across the street with ample parking. Y’all have fun.
Thanks Martin. Looked right over that area of the flyer that showed room rates.
There should be an area to park trailers. I should have a truck on one, so will also need to drop it somewhere.
And they will have 24 hour security patrolling all weekend.
If it is a camper, Mongo will have to answer that question.
I'll start another thread about lodging soon, have to do a little research first.
But I do like the idea of staying real close.
Much appreciated, thanks to you and others for all the great information.
The advantage I see of staying at the Casino Hotel is no gas to burn running back and forth. You’re close to your stuff and can find a spot after hours to set up lawn chairs and visit. Restaurant on the premises and an abundance of cold beverages if that’s your thing without worrying about a DUI. Entertainment for Ron close at hand.
I like your thinking Martin.
Super 8 hotel is right there also.
A lot cheaper and has some kind of free breakfast.
All Vicki and I need is a place to get a shower and bed down for the night.
Red-X is also close for supplies needed during the event.
More lodging research coming later.
I did some research yesterday and the prices are from $58.00 up to $400.00. The nice thing is they list the drive distance to Argosy and most that I looked at was 4.8 to 6.5 miles from Argosy. I thought Argosy was in the $300.00 range way out of my budget or at least what I am willing to spend. Here is a listing.
I don't need to be entertained Martin. a good book, a TV and place to clean up and I am all set. I am a stick in the mud boring person.
Ron the Casino is $139+tax. That’s not much more than we paid at the Drug Hotel we used to stay at. BTW you’re far from a stick in the mud.
Yes, Martin but remember my fuel consumption is a lot more.
How far is the super 8 from the casino hotel? I'll stay where the people that can tolerate me stay..
Rusty, the Super 8 is right across the street.
Thanks JHR, I tried to use the code "midwest All Truck" and the hotel dude said that it's not set up yet. I'll be calling them tomorrow to see if they fixed it.
Is the Argosy Security going to give us any problems if we are sitting around outside sippin' on a few?
I registered online, and mailed my check several weeks ago. I haven't received any confirmation or other contact of any kind.
Has anyone else heard back?
Google earth Argosy Casino.
. I don't know the date for this but you can see the layout. Getting to a parking space for thr Super 8 might be an issue for those staying there.
Mongo has not responded to the "Just ask Mongo" thread.
I'm guessing the show will be in the big west parking lot and hope our area will be along the edge somewhere.
Better yet, in the two parking lots on both sides of the hotel!
Then we can set up HQ and the awnings in the grass. Hop Scotch in front of your truck Ron.
Hotel parking should be fine and the only driving I'll do, is Friday and then Saturday morning to get ice at the Red X.
Walk to and from the hotel, until we load up to leave Sunday.
I have never been to one of these, but considering it this time! I have been looking through this thread, just learning.
Kevin, you won't regret attending!
If you bring a truck, Great.
If you don't, you will still be part of the knowledge sharing gang!
Most of us will be staying at the Super 8 across the street from the show.
Lawn chairs are required though and it's looking to be a good turnout.
The official Stovebolt meeting will also be held Saturday afternoon.
That is, before the band starts playing.
I'll bring along a box of junk to pass off to other members.
I also need to get my truck loaded. I'm dropping off a bunch of parts in Council Bluffs a few hours before "show time". I also need to get the boat anchor on a pallet, loaded, and strapped down.
It's a secret. I might even hold a quick class on it.
If it is an anvil, let me know and I'll throw one in the truck!
Wow, are you going to use those as "door prizes? Someone list a 50 pounder for $200 the other day... and my father dumped his 100 lb'r for about $50 a couple years ago... without asking if I wanted it. I do have a 100 lber that sits under my bench.
I need a couple of those so I can get better mpg going down hills.Don, What about this, I wish I could combine both.
No Rusty, they are not door prizes.
But if I remember to load one up, we can have a chat about them.
If you can get one for 2 bucks a pound, buy it!
The price of old iron has really gone up.
Weather it be an old truck, car or an Anvil!
