Hines drive cruise this Sunday
See you all there
Keith
I live on a gravel (mud) road. I hope to be on Hines, depending on when this road dries up.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
Rick
i was out on hines drive .lots of nice trucks out
i was driving my wifes 1966 gto convertible
nice day and very hot
parked under nice shade tree
I have been thinking about checking out the Tuesday Culvers Lake Orion cruise, but haven't made it there yet. Now knowing there are so many trucks that show up, I will definitely check it out. (especially looking forward to seeing the Cameos if they show up again)
I attended the Hines Cruise as well (just as a spectator) I think this is a great event! Vehicles parked to checked out, but also cruising around to hear the engines rumble. Saw a few 54' Chevy trucks.
I cruised it with my 39. Had a lot of fun. I think it is better than the Woodward Dream Cruise. Definitely more relaxing.
Rick
I totally agree. Woodward is amazing in it's own right, but the great thing about Hines is that it is closed to through traffic. I am hoping to have my 54' Chevy truck ready for next year's cruise.
--Tom
dont forget the monroe swap meet oct.28
always a lot of people and parts
I plan on being there.
Hopefully the weather is good.
swap meet in jan. 5-6 at novi,mi.
Where at in Novi? There is also a small one at the Jackson County Fairgrounds (Jackson, MI) January 20th.
Did you make it to the "Detroit Automotive Swap Meet" at Suburban Showplace?
I have never been, and just curious what kind of show it is, and what the turn out was?
--Tom
I went, first time. There were a lot of vendors and a huge crowd. I did not see anything there I couldn't live without. $5 just to park and $10 to get in. At least it was something to do that day. I've been to the Jackson, Kalamazoo, Monroe and Fowlerville events. Those I enjoyed.
Rick
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I didn't miss much, and probably don't have to put it on the calendar for next year...
I have been to the Jackson, Monroe, and Fowlerville meets before, but never to Kalamazoo....might have to check it out...
--Tom

--Tom
Going to "Cruisin Hines" next Sunday August 25th in Westland, MI. It is a great show/cruise with tons of vehicles on display/cruisin.
Hope to see some other Bolters there.
Let me know if anyone is going.
http://cruisinhines.com/--Tom
I'll be going to the Hines Cruise, weather permitting. Have been to 3 or 4 Hines Cruises in the past. GREAT TIME!!!! I'd rather cruise Hines than go to the Woodward Dream Cruise. I've attended the Woodward Dream Cruise for the past 15 years, not so this year. Out of every 10 vehicles cruising Woodward, 9 of them will be spectators in modern vehicles. The only vehicles allowed at the Hines Cruise are the ones that are 25 years or older and you don't have to pay to park. I'll be there with my 39 Chevy Stake Truck, green with black fenders.
Rick
Disappointed with hines drive today to many new cars
Cops were saying they don't get paid enough to tell
People they can't drive on the cruise. Drive 1/2 of cruise
And left
I hear you. Supposed to be only 25 years and older vehicles, but saw many "newer" vehicles.
My 54' truck isn't road worthy yet, so I had the 83' Monte Carlo. Parked and walked a lot.
I was there too! I did not see many newer cars, unless you consider vehicles from the 80's up to 94 as "newer". They are 25 years and older. My 95 Ford Ranger beater would qualify next year and I don't think of it as a classic for sure. It still beats the Woodward Dream Cruise, which has become totally unbearable.
Rick
I talked to don Nickelson today and he said they did have
Some problems , he said they would try to do better next year
Interesting. I know he said that some of the newer vehicles "sneak in", and that they do not let them in.....but I saw several of the newer vehicles with the yellow tag you get when you pay the $5 to get in, so I know they were let in...anyways...
Regardless, I still think it is a great show overall, and a lot more enjoyable than the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Hoping to make it to a couple shows this weekend as well.
Saturday: looking at either the Downtown Durand, MI show or the Dixieland Flea Market Show
Sunday: Romeo, MI show during the day and parade/cruise downtown Romeo at night.
--Tom
The unauthorized late model vehicles on a closed cruise course is a problem all organizers face. Our closed course Route 66 cruise in early June of each year is a prime example. There are approximately 25 intersections to be blocked off. That means all hands on deck at the PD and Sheriffs Office. They all get paid to make sure no one without the proper placard gets in the closed loop. Over the years there have been fights, tickets and folks going to jail for entering against orders. The problem lies in the fact that the entire route has residences along it. How can they tell people “You can’t go home for 3 hours” without making some mad. Most people know the date and make sure they are home before starting time but some just have to push the envelope. The Club here is very strict on the 25 year rule but occasionally someone will fool them and get a placard anyway. Sorry your experience was not a good one.
Put truck away for the winter
We got 6 inches of snow today
Hope everyone has a good holiday today
Thanks to all the vets. For their service
This is my first post on this thread. Finished my 37 in January and am planning on going to the show in Rockford Mi. in September. My oldest son and grandkids live there so will trailer truck down for the show. Anyone in that area going to attend? Bill
Hi Bill, Rockford is too far for my truck if driven and I don't have a trailer for it. I have to stay pretty close to home with it 'cause top end is 45 MPH.
My grandkids have been asking when the truck is gonna be done so they are really excited to go to their local show. I am also ready to get it on the road and see how it feels and drives. It is a 500 miles one way but will be worth it to see their faces when they get a ride.
Hmmm...Looks like about 2 hours on back roads from me. Can you post the date?
BTW, that pic is really great!!
Thanks. The show in Rockford Mi is September 26. Held in downtown.on main Street. Went last year and they had around 100 cars...nice show

Most car and truck shows are winding down 2 shows this weekend
It's getting cold now and weekly cruises are just about to end pretty soon
What 2 shows are you looking at this weekend?
I know there is the Diamondback Saloon show and the Clawson Knights of Columbus show on Sunday.
Anyone on here from Wisconsin? I am in Sun Prairie. I have a 1948 Suburban. Want to commiserate with other stove bolt owners.
Mark, at the top of the page you will find Member List. Click on it and type in Wisconsin in the search box. Every member from Wisconsin will show up. You can then PM the active ones.
Weather is getting better and the swap meets and car cruises will start next month
Keith do you know of any swap meets next month?
Rick
The Monroe Swap Meet is scheduled for April 18th, and is usually a good meet.

--Tom
Dang, I was really hoping you were talking about Monroe, WA. We're starving for a good swap meet out here in the PNW.
The Monroe Swap Meet is scheduled for April 18th, and is usually a good meet.

Always a good one with a ton of vendors, have picked up some good deals in the past. Rumor has it they have so many vendors and health dept. is setting limits of 1000 and 375 inside expo including vendors so show is still up in the air. From the social page:
SHOW NOTICE: We were told by the Fairgrounds they anticipated we could have 2-3000 spectators. Now the Health Department lowered the count to 1000 outside and 375 inside the Expo Building including vendor count. We are currently negotiating with the Health Department; but if they limit us to 1000 total people; we have that many vendors which means no spectators. We will not have the show unless we believe our vendors can have a successful show. We will keep you updated and should be able to make a decision by April 2. Thanks for your patience. We are doing our best to make the show happen.
